CM Bugti approves 46 new SDPOs

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to appoint 46 new Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) across the province to strengthen supervision and administrative efficiency at district and sub-divisional levels.

The decision was taken during a review meeting on the capacity and performance of the force following the merger of the Levies with the police. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

Officials from the Balochistan Home Department briefed the participants on progress made after the transition, challenges faced and the future course of action. During the session, immediate and long-term plans to modernise the police force were approved.

The chief minister directed the immediate establishment of a new police administrative structure at the divisional and district levels and ordered the provision of all required resources. He emphasised that the government would extend full support to enhance police capacity.

He said the Balochistan Police face not only routine crimes but also serious threats such as terrorism, making it essential to equip the force with professional skills, modern training, and advanced technology. He further instructed that, following the Levies merger, necessary reforms in police jurisdictions and powers must be implemented effectively to improve public service delivery and maintain law and order.

The CM stated that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a responsibility of the state and no negligence in this regard would be tolerated. He also directed the development of an effective monitoring mechanism for the regular evaluation of police performance in all districts.
