Major martyred, six terrorists killed in North Waziristan IBO: ISPR

 



Two Pakistan army personnel, including a major, were martyred in a gun battle with terrorists in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday. The clash occurred during an intelligence-based operation conducted by security forces on the night of January 29-30. According to the military’s media wing, during the operation, Pakistani troops effectively engaged a terrorist hideout, resulting in the death of six militants. The martyred soldiers were identified as Major Hamza Israr, 29, from Rawalpindi, who was leading his troops in the operation, and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem, 26, from Naseerabad. Both men were recognised for their courage and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. ISPR Following the clash, security forces launched a sanitisation operation in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists. Following the firefight, a sanitisation operation is underway to ensure no other terrorists remain in the area. Authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to clear the region of any remaining threats. In response to the attack, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for eliminating six terrorists and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. He commended their bravery and patriotism, stating that security forces would continue operations until terrorism is completely eradicated, and reaffirming the country’s determination to defend against terrorist elements. A day ago, security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on a security post in Gulistan area of Balochistan's Qila Abdullah District, during the night of January 27- January 28. The terrorists attempted to breach the perimeter using an explosive-laden vehicle after their initial assault was repelled, according to a statement by the ISPR.
