QUETTA: The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Balochistan, is launching a special anti-polio vaccination campaign from Monday (today) in 62 high-risk union councils (UCs) across 13 districts of the province to protect children from the crippling poliovirus.
EOC Balochistan Coordinator Inam Ul Haq told the media on Sunday that the campaign is being conducted in areas identified as having high-risk mobile populations and ongoing poliovirus circulation. He said the initiative is part of the government’s continued efforts to interrupt virus transmission.
A total of 209,557 children under the age of five will be vaccinated during the campaign. To ensure effective coverage, 862 vaccination teams have been deployed, supported by 61 fixed vaccination sites and 72 transit points, where children travelling with their families will also receive the life-saving oral polio vaccine.
