The 32nd Syndicate meeting of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) was held with Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon in the chair. The meeting made important decisions regarding academic standards, employees' welfare, and institutional development. JSMU Registrar Dr. Azam Khan presented the meeting's agenda, which included several key decisions. The meeting approved the appointments of professors, associate professors, and assistant professors in the departments of General Surgery and General Medicine (Medicine Allied) to address the shortage of medical specialists at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The syndicate unanimously approved the appointment of Professor Dr. Mehmood Hasan as Chairman of the Department of Pathology at Sindh Medical College (SMC), JSMU. The meeting resolved that after the promotions of Dr. Suresh and Dr. Zahid as professors, they will vacate their Associate Professor seats, and new elections will be held before the next syndicate meeting. The syndicate also approved the expansion of the Benevolent Fund (Welfare Fund) for contract employees of grades 1-16 who have completed five years at the university. However, the decision will be presented to the syndicate's next meeting for final approval. The meeting also reviewed the minutes of the 18th Finance and Planning Committee meet held on January 29, 2025. Discussions included the financial implications of implementing the SEP project proposed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the upgradation of regular employees. VC Siraj Memon expressed satisfaction with the meeting's success, which took several important decisions.
