Beach Boys' Brian Wilson in conservatorship after wife Melinda Ledbetter Wilson’s death

Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson has been placed in a conservatorship to manage his personal and medical care. According to Deadline, Los Angeles Superior Court judge Gus T. May stated in a hearing on Thursday, “I find from clear and convincing evidence that a conservatorship of the person is necessary.” The decision comes after Wilson's family filed a petition in February stating that the 81-year-old musician is grappling with a “major neurocognitive disorder” after the passing of his wife Melinda Ledbetter Wilson in January. A doctor’s statement also revealed that Wilson is taking medication for dementia and “is unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.” Following the death of his wife Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, Wilson's longtime manager LeeAnn Hard and publicist Jean Sievers will oversee the conservatorship, with Wilson's children consulted on major healthcare decisions. After Ledbetter Wilson passed away, the Beach Boys singer wrote on Instagram, “My heart is broken. Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career.”         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Brian Wilson (@brianwilsonlive)
