Days after the release of Laxman Utekar's Chhaava, Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to praise Vicky Kaushal's performance in the film. "Vicky Kaushal! What are you? Cannot get over your performance in Chhaava!" Alia wrote on Wednesday. The historical drama follows the Deccan wars of the late 17th century. "Shivaji's death sparks the Maratha-Mughal conflict. His son Sambhaji leads resistance against Aurangzeb's forces. Amid battles and intrigue, both sides face challenges in a struggle for power," reads the synopsis. In 2018, Vicky and Alia led the cast in Meghna Gulzar's film Raazi, in which they played lovers. The duo will also be seen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film, Love & War, which is slated for March 2026. The film also stars Alia's husband, Ranbir Kapoor. Aside from praising Vicky's portrayal of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor also penned her appreciation for the rest of the cast and crew of the film. "Akshaye Khanna, one of my favourite actors on screen! As Aurangzeb, you were incredible. Rashmika Mandanna was so, so beautiful. Those eyes!" Alia wrote. "Congratulations, Laxman Utekar sir, for this wonderful movie and all the love and praise that is coming your way." Another Bollywood star to dispense a load of praise for the film was Katrina Kaif, who is married to Vicky. "What a cinematic experience, and what a monumental task to bring to life the glory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj," she wrote in an Instagram grid post on Saturday. In her note, Katrina also lauded the director's hand at storytelling. "Laxman Utekar tells this incredible story in the most brilliant way. I'm in awe. The last forty minutes of the film will leave you speechless. I've spent all morning wanting to go and re-watch it again," she expressed. "I'm at a loss for words at the impact of this film." Of course, she reserved some special plaudits for her husband, appreciating him for the command that he has on his craft. "You are a chameleon, the way you transform into your characters, effortlessly and fluidly. I'm so proud of you and your talent," she wrote. "Dinesh Vijan," she added, turning her attention to the film's producer. "What is there to say? You are a true visionary. You support and put your conviction into what you believe and carve a new trail of brilliance each time. The entire cast is phenomenal. This is a film for the big screen. So proud of the whole team."
