Mob lynches murder suspect in Galyat

A man was lynched by a mob in Galyat after the victim reportedly stabbed a youth to death in a fit of rage following a heated argument. According to local and police sources, following the murder of a local youth by the watchman of a private housing society, the local community became enraged and set up their own "court" in front of the police. "They beat the killer with stones and sticks, ultimately killing him," they said. Local police said the incident took place in the Ser Gharbi area of the Changla Gali police station jurisdiction. Local youth Imran Abbasi had parked his car in the housing society's parking lot and went home for the night. When he returned the next day to retrieve his car, a dispute broke out between him and the society's watchman, identified as Khan Zaman. The argument escalated into a fight, during which Khan Zaman repeatedly stabbed Imran Abbasi, killing him and injuring his brother. Upon hearing the news, a large crowd of locals gathered at the scene and set fire to five homes in the society, sources said. However, the alleged killer, Khan Zaman, hid in the basement. Meanwhile, the police from across Galyat arrived at the site. After receiving information about the killer's hiding place, hundreds of people gathered again. The police then broke through a wall to enter the basement and apprehended the suspect. As soon as the crowd saw the killer, they became uncontrollable. An angry mob set up their own "court" and beat Khan Zaman to death with stones and sticks. Police said several police personnel were injured during the violence and chaos. The alleged killer's body was later moved to Abbottabad Hospital for a post-mortem. According to police sources, Khan Zaman was originally from the Kurram area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
