Blackhawks vs Golden Knights 5-7: Vegas holds off late surge from Chicago

Brett Howden contributed three assists as the Golden Knights (35-18-6) secured their fourth win in five games. Ilya Samsonov stopped 17 shots in the victory. For the Blackhawks (17-35-7), Connor Murphy recorded three assists, but the team suffered its fifth consecutive loss. Petr Mrazek allowed five goals on 15 shots before being pulled in favor of Arvid Soderblom, who made 16 saves in relief. First-period onslaught Vegas wasted no time setting the tone, as Kolesar opened the scoring just 1:06 into the game off a cross-ice feed from Howden. Nicolas Hague made it 2-1 at 8:57, Barbashev extended the lead with a power-play redirection at 12:17, and Tomas Hertl added another man-advantage goal from the slot at 16:54. Pavel Dorofeyev capped the explosive first period with a wrist shot at 18:57, giving Vegas a commanding 5-1 lead. Blackhawks battle back Chicago showed resilience in the second period, cutting the deficit with goals from Colton Dach (1:01) and Ethan Del Mastro (5:30), the latter marking his first NHL goal. Kolesar netted his second of the night at 13:38, pushing Vegas’ lead to 6-3. The Blackhawks continued their push in the third, as Ilya Mikheyev (6:56) and Philipp Kurashev (9:44) made it a one-goal game at 6-5. However, Barbashev sealed the victory with his second goal at 15:45, securing the 7-5 final.
