Police foil multiple terror attacks in K-P

As Khyber Pakhtunkhwa grapples with a surge in terror attacks, security forces held the line on Monday, repelling assailants in Lakki Marwat, Peshawar and Khyber in separate incidents. In Lakki Marwat, a group of 10 to 15 heavily armed militants attempted to attack the Gambila police station. However, police retaliated forcefully, pushing back the attackers. Lakki Marwat DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq confirmed that the timely response prevented a major assault, forcing the militants to flee with their weapons. Meanwhile, in Peshawar, terrorists launched a grenade attack on a police checkpoint, while another group opened fire at a Khyber police checkpoint on Bypass Road, injuring two personnel. The wounded officers were immediately shifted to a hospital, while the attackers fled after sustaining injuries in retaliatory fire. A separate attack was also reported at the Jamrud FC checkpoint, where terrorists engaged in a firefight with FC Bara Rifles personnel. The assailants managed to escape under the cover of darkness after intense gunfire. Meanwhile, security forces killed two terrorists in a joint operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Bannu police following an attack on a police constable. Earlier in the day, armed motorcyclists ambushed lower head constable Arman Khan on Miranshah Road, killing him on the spot before escaping. In response, RPO Bannu, DPO Bannu, and SP CTD launched an intelligence-based operation near Baran Bridge. As soon as police teams approached, militants opened fire, prompting security forces to retaliate. A 30-minute gun battle ensued, resulting in the killing of two terrorists. Authorities seized weapons from the slain militants, and their bodies were shifted to a hospital for identification.
