Nagpur was gripped by chaos on Monday night as violent clashes broke out following rumors that the Islamic religious book had been desecrated during a protest. The protest, led by Bajrang Dal members, called for the removal of the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, an act that ignited widespread outrage across the city. The violence led to the vandalism of several houses and vehicles in areas like Hansapuri, with clashes intensifying in Chitnis Park and Mahal. Security forces were pelted with stones, and in response, authorities had to use tear gas to regain control of the situation. Fadnavis firmly stated, “No individual has the authority to take the law into their own hands,” emphasizing the need for public order and peace. Meanwhile, Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal provided updates on the situation, confirming that more than 50 individuals had been arrested in connection with the violence. Additionally, five FIRs have been registered, and the police are continuing to investigate. Singal reassured the public that efforts are being made to prevent further violence and restore peace in the city.
