'Enough of the 300 talk!', Shoaib Akhtar calls out Sehwag for constantly mentioning triple century

India and Pakistan may not be playing bilateral cricket series, but the rivalry between their cricketers continues to spark controversies. Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar, two flamboyant figures from the golden era of Indian and Pakistani cricket, were known for their on-field battles. Post-retirement, it appears that old rivalries die hard, as the duo continues to engage in verbal sparring off the field. The latest controversy revolves around Sehwag, who boasts an impressive 91.14 average against Pakistan during his career, and Akhtar, the world's fastest bowler. The feud ignited when Akhtar took to Instagram to express his frustration over Sehwag's repeated references to his iconic triple hundred against Pakistan during India's 2004 tour. Sehwag’s memorable knock came in the first Test of the three-match series in Multan, where he blasted an unbeaten 309 at a strike rate of 82.40, laced with 39 boundaries and six sixes. India won the match by an innings and 52 runs, taking a 1-0 series lead. Sehwag’s knock helped India clinch the series 2-1. Akhtar went wicketless in the game. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHaT00oTbZq/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=2f3ba5b8-e30f-48b3-80d9-8aefc38fa46a Fast forward 21 years, and Akhtar had clearly grown tired of Sehwag's constant reminiscing of that famous knock. The latest flare-up occurred when Sehwag posted a video clip from a commercial featuring actress Mandira Bedi and Sahiba Bali, with the caption: "Ek triple centurion ke handle se @fwd ka ad post ho raha hai." Akhtar responded in a video of his own, expressing his irritation. "I saw a video of Viru Paaji. Man, I am fed up of hearing him talk. It is the same tape he has been playing for the last 20 years - '300, 300, 300'. Come on, brother, I was there too when you scored that 300. You played really well, no doubt. But it is the month of fasting, and one has to control their tongue - so please, stop now," said Akhtar.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Shoaib Akhtar (@imshoaibakhtar) He also offered Sehwag a tongue-in-cheek suggestion, saying, “If you want an entry in the Guinness World Records, I can get that done: 'The person who says 300 the most in the world - Virender Sehwag!’” Shoaib also cheekily reminded Sehwag, "I have a record too, which you know very well, but unlike you, I don't keep talking about it all the time."
