Shawwal moon not sighted, Iran, India to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Monday

The Shawwal moon was not sighted in several countries, including Iran, Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, and Brunei, on Saturday, confirming that these countries will celebrate Eidul Fitr on Monday, March 31. Iran and Oman have officially announced that Eidul Fitr will be observed on Monday, following the sunset marking the 28th day of Ramadan. The crescent moon is expected to be visible to the naked eye on Sunday, signaling the end of Ramadan. In Malaysia, the country’s religious authorities made the announcement after extensive efforts to sight the moon at designated locations. The absence of a visible crescent indicates that Ramadan will complete its 30 days, with Eid celebrations scheduled for March 31. Similarly, Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed that the Shawwal moon was not sighted, meaning Eid will be observed on Monday in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation. Bangladesh also declared Monday, March 31, as the first day of Eidul Fitr. Media reports confirmed that the Shawwal moon was not visible in Bangladesh, India, or Brunei, all of which will celebrate Eid on Monday. Additionally, the Australian Fatwa Council has confirmed that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, in Australia. Eidul Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims across various countries will mark the occasion with special prayers, family gatherings, and festive meals.
