The unique reasoning of the Punjab Food Authority in Murree has led to strong protests from restaurant owners and employees in the sector. The authority has mandated the use of chickens weighing more than two kilogrammes in chicken karahi, which has been widely opposed. Restaurant owners argue that they are providing the best food to the tourists visiting Murree. They stated that using heavier chickens not only increases the cost of business but also affects the flavour of the karahi. Despite using as many spices as possible, the taste of the dish is not the same with heavier chickens. They emphasised that only chickens weighing up to 1.5 kilogrammes, like in other cities, should be used in Murree. They view this restriction as a conspiracy to destroy the business in the popular hill station, which they will not tolerate. They made it clear that such a restriction is unacceptable. They also highlighted that due to the lack of snowfall in the winter season, Murree witnessed a significant drop in the number of tourists.
