Punjab braces for rising heat as dry spell continues

Temperatures continued to rise across Punjab on Thursday as the province faced an intensifying spell of dry and hot weather, with no immediate relief in sight, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Lahore and other cities have experienced a steady climb in temperature, prompting widespread use of fans and air conditioners in homes and offices as summer-like conditions arrive early, Express News reported. The Met office reported that Lahore’s minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 19°C, with the mercury expected to rise to a high of 34°C. "Hot and dry weather will persist across Punjab for the next few days," a spokesperson for the department said, adding that no rainfall was forecast over the coming 72 hours. The dry spell has amplified the intensity of the heat, with residents urged to stay hydrated and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours. The early onset of high temperatures has also raised concerns about water usage and energy demand, as cooling appliances are switched on across the region.
