Saudi Arabia hit by 4.0 magnitude earthquake near Jubail

A magnitude 4 earthquake struck the Arabian Gulf off Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province early Friday, while Indonesia also experienced seismic activity on the same day. The tremor, recorded by seismic stations, was located 55 kilometers east of the city of Jubail. The quake was attributed to stress caused by the movement of the Arabian tectonic plate colliding with the Eurasian plate, a spokesperson told Arab News. Despite the tremor, the spokesperson confirmed that the earthquake was considered minor and assured that the situation in Saudi Arabia remained safe. Additionally, Indonesia was also hit by a moderate 4.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the Southern Molucca Sea at 12:36 PM local time (GMT +8). While the earthquake did not cause immediate damage or injuries, local authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The region, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to frequent seismic activity, and residents have been advised to stay alert for potential aftershocks.
