CHAKWAL The two-day Interfaith Harmony Conference was held at the historic site of Katas Raj Temple, with the aim of promoting harmony, tolerance and peace among different religions in Pakistan. The conference was organised by the non-governmental organization SALT, in which more than 130 delegates belonging to different religions participated. These included leaders of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and other minority communities. The conference was specially attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister of State for Sports, Das Kohistani, Federal Secretary for Religious Affairs, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman and Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, Ramesh Singh Arora. Addressing the conference, Provincial Minister, Ramesh Singh Arora said that interfaith harmony is the foundation of peace, development and stability of Pakistan, we are all Pakistanis, regardless of our religion or belief. He said that our government has formed institutions like educational scholarships, development projects and the Minorities Advisory Council to include minorities in the national mainstream. Talking about the recent conspiracies of the Indian government, the provincial minister said that India's attempts to spread sectarianism and religious chaos in Pakistan will fail, because the entire nation and all minorities stand with the Pakistan Army and state institutions, we want peace, but we will never neglect the defence of our land. He emphasised that the gathering at a sacred place like Katas Raj on that day was proof that all religions are given equality and respect in Pakistan.
