SWABI: A local Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and his father were killed in the Gadoon Amazai mountainous belt when their rivals opened fire on them just an hour before Iftar here on Friday, the police said.
Officials in Utla police station said that Farman Zeb, and his father, Jamshed Khan were on way home when they were targeted by motorcyclists, and both of them died on the spot because they were fired upon from a very close range.
Mr Zeb, who played a leading role in the gathering people on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway recently, hailed from Utla village. He was considered right hand of Asad Qaiser, former speaker of National Assembly, and MPA Rangaiz Khan in the region.
The police said they had collected evidence from the crime scene and had taken the bodies to the Topi Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. They said it appears that the father and son had been targeted over an old enmity, but no FIR had been registered in this regard yet.
Officials said police were in the hunt for the suspected killers.
