Auto sales hit 18,818 units in July

KARACHI: Sales of cars, pickups, vans and jeeps surged by 79 per cent year-on-year in July to 18,818 units, but fell 13pc month-on-month.

The annual rise was driven by new market entrants, new product launches and a surge in auto financing. The month-on-month decline was primarily due to uncertainty surrounding the new auto policy, Myesha Sohail of Topline Securities said.

She expects the positive momentum in auto sales to continue in FY27, with double-digit growth supported by the launch of new variants and the entry of new brands in the market.

Among below 1,000cc, Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every sales rose to 7,217 and 492 units in July from 2,327 and 230 units, respectively.

Year-on-year boom but 13pc monthly fall

Truck and bus sales surged by 169pc and 14pc to 854 and 65 units in July, compared with the same month in 2025.

Sales of farm tractors showed a growth of four per cent to 1,242 units in July from 1,195 units in July 2025.

Two- and three-wheeler sales grew by 38pc year-on-year in July to 172,416 units.

As per data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manu­facturers Association (PAMA), sales of 1,300cc and above swelled by 111pc YoY to 9,066 units in July in which Suzuki Swift posted the highest growth of 287pc to 2,018 units from 522 in July 2025, followed by 121pc jump in sales of Honda Civic and Honda City 2,529 from 1,143 units.

In the 1,000cc segment, the only Suzuki Cultus recorded a 64pc YoY rise in sales to 392 units in July.

In two- and three-wheelers, Atlas Honda Ltd (AHL) sold 150,063 units in July, up by 43pc YoY, Suzuki sales rose by 29pc to 3,259 units from 2,518 in July 2025.

Toyota Fortuner/Revo sales fell by 12pc YoY to 806 units in July while Hyundai Tucson stood at 171 units in July versus 546 in July 225.

Honda BRV and HRV sales stood 111 units as compared to 357 units in July 2025 while Sazgar’s Havel/Tank sales also registered a decline of 39 YoY in July to 663 units from 1,079 in July 2025.

JAC’s pickup sales surged by 140pc YoY in July to 357 units from 149 units in July 2025.

Sazgar three-wheeler sales rose to 2,562 units in July from 1,415 in July 2025, while United Auto Motorcycle sales increased by 30pc to 16,393 units from 12,605 in July 2025. Meanwhile, a major shift in buyers’ preferences has been observed from traditional fuel-based internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) in 11MFY26, pushing overall auto sales up by 47pc compared with the same period in 11MFY25.
