Celine Dion shines in Dior at Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony

Celine Dion made a stunning return to the stage at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, delivering a powerful rendition of Édith Piaf's "Hymne à l’amour" from the top of the Eiffel Tower. This marked Dion's first performance since disclosing her stiff person syndrome diagnosis in December 2022. The 56-year-old singer wore an elaborate Dior Haute Couture ensemble. Dion's hair was slicked back into a bun, ensuring that the focus remained on her dress and her impressive vocals. She completed the look with smokey eye makeup and delicate diamond earrings. Leading up to her performance, Dion hinted at her designer choice by wearing a Dior tracksuit and an elegant black Dior midi dress while in Paris. Earlier in the week, a source confirmed to Page Six that Dion would perform at the opening ceremony, while an Olympics spokesperson noted that she wouldn't receive payment for her performance. “Contrary to some media reports, the performers at the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies will not receive a fee for their performance,” they said. “Their decision to perform under these conditions reflects their desire to be part of a historic event for France and for the world of sports.” Dion's triumphant performance signifies a significant milestone in her struggle with SPS, a rare neurological disorder that leads to muscle stiffness and painful spasms.
