ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday gave in-principle approval to streamline the Public-Private Partnership Authority (P3A) and its systems to accelerate projects.
Chairing a meeting to expedite the pace of projects through public-private partnerships (PPP), the prime minister directed relevant ministries and departments to build capacity to initiate projects under the model.
The meeting decided that, to align P3A’s performance with modern requirements and speed up implementation, the authority would function under the Privatisation Division.
He also instructed that PPP-based projects be included in the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of ministries and departments, adding that the system was being made more transparent and efficient through P3A.
Participants were briefed on comparative PPP models implemented in various countries, as well as the structure of the proposed system. Under it, the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation and the Privatisation Division would oversee P3A.
The prime minister directed that implementation of the newly approved system be accelerated.
