Project to transform nursery into 'Gardenia Hub'

The Capital Development Authority (CDA)'s Development Working Party (DWP) on Wednesday approved the PC-1 for the upgradation, restoration, and transformation of the CDA Nursery on Park Road and its conversation into a Gardenia Hub. The 72nd meeting of the DWP was held at the CDA Headquarters on Wednesday and was attended by senior officials from the Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Division, the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Finance Division, CDA Board members, and other relevant authorities. During the meeting, the PC-1 for the project to upgrade and restore the CDA Nursery on Park Road and convert it into the Gardenia Hub was approved. The estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs652.819 million. The goal is to transform the existing CDA Nursery into a model facility with various amenities. This initiative aligns with the vision of Pakistan's Prime Minister, who announced the project during the inauguration of the F-8 Interchange/Flyover on December 24, 2024. The CDA Nursery, located on Park Road in Islamabad and covering 50 acres, is envisioned to become a significant horticultural centre under the Gardenia Hub project. The plan includes the construction of flower shops and cafes. The project will feature state-of-the-art, controlled, and ventilated greenhouses for cultivating a variety of plants. Additionally, a nursery facility for tissue propagation and a sustainable drip irrigation system will be established. A designated area will also be provided for colourful flower exhibitions. The comprehensive design of the project reflects CDA's commitment to enhancing green spaces in Islamabad and promoting environmental sustainability. Transforming the nursery into the Gardenia Hub is a step toward making Islamabad a greener and more vibrant capital.
