‘Mentally unstable’ man arrested for killing teenager in Gujrat

GUJRAT: A mentally unstable man has been arrested for allegedly killing a 13-year-old boy when he was returning home after buying rotis from a nearby tandoor in the Jandala village on Sunday.

According to details, Arsalan (13) had been sent by his parents to bring rotis (bread) from a roadside restaurant in the area. As soon as he left the restaurant, a man identified as Shakeel, a resident of Sabor village, allegedly attacked the boy from behind and hit his head with an iron rod. The boy got injured and taken to a nearby hospital and was referred to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital, where he later succumbed to his head injury.

Police registered a case against the suspect and arrested him, while further investigations were ongoing. It is learnt that the suspect was mentally retarded.
