3 Karak cops martyred fighting terrorists

 



Three policemen embraced martyrdom, fighting off terrorists in the Bahadur Khel area of the Karak district, while one soldier was martyred and 12 terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Hassan Khel area in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. Officials said that the Karak police fought valiantly to foil a terrorist attack to capture a post in Bahadur Khel, adding that three policemen were martyred and six others sustained critical injuries during the fire-fight that lasted for than two hours overnight. They said that unknown armed terrorists launched the attack with small and heavy weapons from all sides in an attempt to capture the Bahadur Khel police post. However, the policeman took timely action and bravely responded to the attack and forced the terrorists to retreat. "Three policemen sacrificed their lives to prevent the terrorist attack and foiled the terrorists' attempt to capture the post," a police official said. "Six police personnel were also injured in the attack, three of them seriously," the official added. The martyred police personnel were identified as Taimur Hayat, resident of Rehmatabad; Driver Naqeeb, resident of Ahmedabad, and Adnan, resident of Mansehra. The injured were Saddam Asghar, Zainullah, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Saeed, Raja Junaid, and Sana Muhammad. Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the security forces conducted an IBO in the general area of Hassan Khel in North Waziristan district in the night between Wednesday and Thursday on the reported presence of terrorists. "During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, as a result of which, twelve khwarij were sent to hell," the ISPR said, referring to the terrorists, belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). However, the ISPR said, during intense fire exchange, Lance Naik Muhammad Ibrahim, 34, a resident of Hangu district, "having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice" and embraced martyrdom. It added that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the dead terrorists. The ISPR said that the dead terrorists "remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians". it added: "Sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area, as security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve."
