Netflix is adding Temptation Island to its lineup of reality dating shows, with a new season set to premiere on March 12. The long-running series, which first aired in 2001, follows four unmarried couples who test their relationships by living separately in villas—one for men with single women and one for women with single men. While they cannot communicate with their partners, they are shown selective footage of their significant other’s experiences, often leading to dramatic moments. As Netflix describes the show, “Will the choices they make push the couples closer together or farther apart into the arms of a new lover?” Mark L. Walberg, who has hosted the series since its inception, will return as the host. The show is produced by Banijay Studios North America, with David Goldberg and David Friedman serving as executive producers. Temptation Island originally aired on Fox from 2001 to 2003, attracting both controversy and high ratings for its format, which some viewed as encouraging infidelity. In 2019, USA Network revived the show, where it aired for five more seasons until 2023. Now entering its ninth season, the show is making its streaming debut on Netflix, further evolving from its past network iterations. The addition of Temptation Island expands Netflix’s growing catalog of unscripted dating shows, which already includes Love Is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, The Ultimatum, and Perfect Match.
