Boney Kapoor, Bollywood producer and husband of the late Sridevi, confirmed plans to produce a sequel to her final film Mom, with their youngest daughter, Khushi Kapoor, taking the lead role. The announcement was made during the 25th IIFA Awards, where Boney shared his vision for the next chapter of the beloved film. Sridevi’s performance in Mom (2017), which marked her last on-screen appearance before her death in 2018. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the film saw Sridevi playing a mother seeking justice for her daughter, with her powerful performance earning her a posthumous National Award for Best Actress. Boney Kapoor expressed immense pride in both of his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi, noting their continuous efforts to follow in their mother’s footsteps in the entertainment industry. “I have watched all of Khushi’s films – The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaaniyan,” he said. “I am planning a film with her too after No Entry. It could be Mom 2.” The sequel’s development comes at a time when Khushi Kapoor has made a mark in the industry with her recent projects. Her Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies (2023) and her subsequent roles in Loveyapa and Nadaaniyan have earned her recognition. Boney Kapoor expressed hope that Khushi and her elder sister Janhvi would continue their mother’s legacy of excellence in the Indian film industry. Sridevi’s Mom was celebrated for its gripping storyline and remarkable performances, with Sridevi’s role as a mother seeking justice for her daughter drawing critical acclaim. The film was also a commercial success, reaching audiences worldwide. Its release was particularly poignant, as it marked Sridevi's final on-screen appearance.
