Senate chairman accepts Nishtar's resignation

The Senate chairman has accepted the resignation of a PTI senator, Dr Sania Nishtar. A statement issued by the Senate Secretariat's Media Directorate on Monday said Senator Sania Nishtar's resignation from the Upper House had been accepted, and an official notification in this regard had been issued. The notification stated that, under Article 64(1) of the Constitution, her seat has been declared vacant with effect from March 10, 2025. According to reports, Dr Sania Nishtar resigned last year after accepting a position with an international organization. She previously served as the special assistant to former prime minister Imran Khan and was elected as a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2021.
