2 CTD men martyred in Kohat attack

Unknown assailants on Monday gunned down two officials of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in a targeted attack in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). According to officials, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mustafa and Head Constable Zahid were crossing the Tanda Dam area of Kohat when their motorcycle was intercepted by some other motorcyclists. The attackers opened fire on the policemen who received serious injuries and died on the spot. Later, police and other law enforcers reached the site, cordoned off the area and shifted the dead to the district headquarters hospital. Later, the funeral prayer for the martyred police personnel was conducted with full state honours at Martyr Police Lines in Kohat under Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Fareed Hussain Bangash. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people, including CTD Additional Inspector General Shaukat Abbas, Kohat Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abbas Mujid Marwat, Kohat District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Akram, military and civil officials, police officers and personnel, as well as the families of the martyrs and members of the public. The CTD additional IG, Kohat DIG, DPO, deputy commissioner, and military authorities, accompanied by the police's armed contingent, paid their final respects by placing flowers on the mortal remains of the martyrs. Their dead bodies were later shifted to their native areas.
