PIA plane's missing wheel finally found

The landing gear wheel that went missing during the takeoff of a PIA plane bound for Lahore has finally been located in a remote corner of the Karachi airport. According to the PAA, the missing wheel was found near the remote parking bay at Jinnah International Airport, close to the II Chundrigar Hangar. Wheel shop technicians spotted the Airbus A320 wheel lying near the landing gear of a grounded Boeing 777. The PAA has confirmed that there is no evidence of any casualties or financial damage resulting from the wheel's detachment. Investigations have revealed that the wheel detached during takeoff, yet the issue remained unreported until the aircraft landed in Lahore, raising serious concerns about aviation safety standards. Aviation authority and PIA's engineering team are conducting a comprehensive investigation to prevent such incidents in the future. Initial reports suggest that the possible reasons behind the detachment of this critical component could include deficiencies in maintenance procedures, manufacturing defects and material fatigue. Given the stringent storage requirements for aircraft spare parts—where factors like temperature and material integrity are closely monitored—this incident has prompted deeper scrutiny. Airbus, the maker of the aircraft, has reached out to the PIA and launched a detailed technical investigation into the matter. It has requested a full incident report including flight data records from the past three months, checklists and maintenance history and a comprehensive assessment of the landing gear and other critical systems.
