The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday appointed a judicial commission to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail after it informed that the PTI founder could neither be presented via video link, nor brought in the court in person. IHC Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard a contempt of court petition filed by PTI lawyer leader Mishal Yousafzai for not allowing her to meet with Imran in the Adiala Jail. During the hearing, the court ordered that Imran appeared at 2 pm via video link, or produced in the court in person at 3 pm. The Islamabad advocate general and the superintendent of the Adiala Central Jail told the court that despite the court order, the PTI founder could not be produced via video link because of technical issues, adding that he also could not be brought to the court because of threats to his security. The court ordered the jail superintendent and the Inspector general of Islamabad police to file affidavit in this regard, and appointed Law Clerk Sakina Bangash as the judicial commission to meet the PTI founder in jail and ask him whether or not Yousafzai was his lawyer. Furthermore, the court directed the jail superintendent to make arrangements for the judicial commission's meeting with the PTI founder on Saturday (today). On that Yousafzai requested the court that Imran should also be asked whether he was allowed meeting with his friends. The advocate general objected to the request, saying that that the court order was related to the meeting with lawyers and not with friends. The jail superintendent told the court that that the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi, had stated that Yousafzai not their lawyer or focal person. On the occasion, the jail superintendent presented a list of six lawyers signed by the PTI founder. He also informed that court that Imran and Bushra were allowed a meeting on Tuesday. Later, the hearing was adjourned until March 19.
