Ubisoft clapped back at Elon Musk after he called Assassin’s Creed Shadows a “terrible game” on X (formerly Twitter), igniting a viral feud involving streamers, game studios, and the Tesla CEO himself. In a reply to a post featuring Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, known as HasanAbi, promoting the upcoming RPG in a sponsored livestream, Musk called him a “fraud” and a “sell-out,” claiming he was only playing the game “just for the money.” Ubisoft’s official Assassin’s Creed account quickly joined the conversation, responding with a jab at Musk’s own controversial gaming history. “Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?” the account posted — a sharp reference to earlier allegations that Musk had paid others to power-level his character in the popular action RPG. Their reply racked up over 164,000 likes—vastly outpacing Musk’s original comment, which had only around 12,000 likes at the time. The Path of Exile 2 comment refers to a January 2025 claim by Twitch streamer Quin69 that Musk had used outside help to artificially boost his account ranking. Popular content creator Asmongold supported the accusation, later claiming Musk soft-blocked him after leaking private DMs. Musk reportedly admitted to hiring gamers, though denied any wrongdoing. HasanAbi didn’t hold back either. He responded on stream and on X, mocking Musk’s gaming credibility and challenging him to a duel in Elden Ring. “You paid someone to power-level your character in POE2… I will cook your fat rolling a**,” he wrote. The exchange has fueled online buzz around Assassin’s Creed Shadows, turning criticism into viral marketing ahead of the game’s release.
