Winning the toss and opting to field first, KKR exploited the slow pitch conditions at Guwahati effectively, led by Varun Chakravarthy, Moeen Ali, and Vaibhav Arora, who shared six wickets between them. Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2/17 from four overs, while Moeen returned 2/23. Seamer Arora chipped in with 2/33, using clever variations in pace. The top-scorer for the Royals was Dhruv Jurel, who played a measured knock of 33 off 28 balls, but lacked support from the middle and lower order.
