Ready or Not sequel kicks off with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood joining returning cast

Searchlight Pictures has officially started production on Ready or Not: Here I Come, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 black comedy horror hit Ready or Not. Filming kicked off Monday in Toronto with a star-studded cast led by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood, joining returning lead Samara Weaving as Grace. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Radio Silence), the sequel reunites much of the original creative team, including screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. Kathryn Newton, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and filmmaker David Cronenberg round out the expanded cast. The first Ready or Not earned $28 million at the domestic box office on a modest $6 million budget, making it one of Searchlight’s biggest releases of 2019. The sequel promises to deliver the same twisted fun, with fresh faces and a darker, more intense narrative. “We’re thrilled to return to the world of Ready or Not and work with this incredible cast,” said directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett. Searchlight Pictures President Matthew Greenfield added, “This new installment will be just as twisted and exciting for fans and newcomers alike.” Behind the scenes, several original crew members return, including production designer Andrew Stearn and cinematographer Brett Jutkiewicz. New crew include editor Jay Prychidny and hair department head Ryan Reed. Executive producers include Chad Villella, Tara Farney, and Samara Weaving, among others. Searchlight’s Richard Ruiz and Cornelia Burleigh are overseeing production. Fans of the original can expect a blend of gore, suspense, and dark humor as Ready or Not: Here I Come aims for another thrilling ride.
