QUETTA: Balochistan Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir on Tuesday said foolproof security arrangements would be ensured during Muharram, particularly for Ashura processions, in close coordination with organisers and all relevant stakeholders.
He said Muharram was a month that taught unity, brotherhood and patience, adding that maintaining peace and order across the province remained the top priority of law enforcement agencies.
He made the remarks while chairing a video-link conference with all regional and district police officers at the Central Police Office, Quetta, regarding security arrangements for Muharram.
The IGP said a comprehensive security strategy had been finalised to maintain law and order across Balochistan. Under the plan, strict checking would be carried out at all entry and exit points of major cities, while special traffic management plans would be implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow.
He said procession routes would be thoroughly swept and cleared after search operations, while shops, markets and plazas along the routes would be sealed where necessary.
