Man slays wife for seeking divorce

A man murdered his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon in Tabba Sherkot, Pakpattan, after she had left him due to domestic violence. District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal Chadhar took notice of the incident and ordered the arrest of the accused. The police registered a case, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the murder weapon. Police said Zakia Bibi had been married to Mohsin Ali for 11 years and the couple had three sons. However, Mohsin's behaviour towards his wife had reportedly deteriorated over the past year, with frequent instances of physical abuse. Three months ago, Mohsin Ali forcibly took the children from Zakia and threw her out of the house. She sought refuge at her parents' home in Tabba Sherkot, where she started working to support herself. On the day of the incident, Zakia was returning home from work when Mohsin, who had been lying in wait, intercepted her near her parents' house. He attempted to persuade her to return, but when she refused, he attacked her with a sharp weapon, slitting her throat. Locals rushed to help after hearing her screams and tried to take her to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries. Rescue teams later transported her body for a post-mortem examination. Investigations revealed that Zakia had filed a case seeking the annulment of her marriage due to her husband's persistent abuse, which is believed to have triggered the murder. DPO Pakpattan Javed Iqbal Chadhar confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and the murder weapon recovered. He assured that police had gathered all necessary evidence from the crime scene and that the accused would face the full force of the law. The case remains under investigation.
