A Member National Assembly (MNA) from Lower Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has received a threatening letter from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) demanding a five per cent share from the funds allocated to him. Similarly, a schoolteacher of a local government girls' school has received threatening voice messages, demanding the closure of her school. The district administration and security agencies while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed the receipt of the letter to the MNA and the voice messages sent to the female schoolteacher. According to officials, the letter allegedly sent by TTP states that the MNA must pay them five per cent of his allocated funds and hand over the amount to their representatives. The letter further warned him of serious consequences if the demanded amount is not paid in time. The letter reportedly carries Afghan phone numbers and bears the stamp and signature of TTP commander. Officials also mentioned that the letter was sent to the MNA via WhatsApp, but no official response from the said MNA has been made public yet. TTP has also sent threatening voice messages from Afghan phone numbers to the teacher of the government girls' school.
