Illegal private hospital in Sialkot sealed by Pera force

NAROWAL: The Pera force claimed to have sealed an illegally operating private hospital in Sialkot on Saturday.

Pera District Officer Muhammad Shafiq told Dawn that a grand operation had been launched to eliminate quacks on the instructions of Sialkot District Health Authority Chairperson and Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali.

He said that Pera force, with the help of a health department team, made a surprise visit to a private hospital near the China Chowk overhead bridge on Kashmir Road. He said that a private hospital named Madina Medical Center was not registered with the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) and a lady doctor identified as Safia was checking patients at the hospital. He said that the team asked the doctor to provide details of her registration with the PMDC, however, she was unable to produce any document.

He claimed the fake lady doctor was administering injections and drips to patients in her hospital and playing with the lives of patients. The hospital was sealed, he added.

Talking to Dawn, the DC said the challan had been sent to the Punjab Healthcare Commission for further legal action against the private hospital. She said that a grand operation had been launched against quacks in the district without any discrimination. She said that providing quality health facilities to the citizens was among the top priorities of the district administration.
